Now put it in Gmail

Business Gmail on your computer
  1. Hit Copy signature up above.
  2. Open Gmail, click the gear icon at the top right, then See all settings.
  3. Stay on the General tab. Scroll down to Signature.
  4. Click Create new. Name it your first name. Click Create.
  5. Click inside the big empty box and paste with Cmd+V or Ctrl+V. Do not paste as plain text. That strips everything out.
  6. Under Signature defaults, pick your signature for For new emails and for On reply/forward.
  7. Scroll all the way to the bottom of the page and click Save Changes. This is where most people mess it up.
  8. Send yourself a test. Check it on your phone too.
About animated headshots

Gmail on the web, Gmail on your phone, Apple Mail, and Outlook.com all play the animation. Outlook on Windows desktop does not. It shows the first frame and stops there. So make sure frame one is a frame you would be happy to use as a still photo, because for some of your recipients that is the whole show.

Gmail on your phone

The Gmail app only does plain text signatures. Leave the mobile signature blank. Your web signature still rides along on most replies, and a plain text one stacked on top just looks like clutter.

My picture is not showing up

Two usual suspects. Either you skipped the Save headshot button, so the picture never got a public address, or the person reading your email has images switched off. Nothing you can do about the second one. Everybody sees your name and title either way.
